The Dolomites

This is a painting for my freshman roommate, and close friend, Haley. She told me that all she wants for her birthday is a painting. I decided to paint the Dolomites; a mountain range that is part of the alps located in northeastern Italy. Haley is studying Italian and wishes to visit Italy one day. She is super outdoorsy, so I thought this would be appropriate. To the left is the underpainting done in tints of burnt umber + crimson.
